Overview

The community and social services field generally involves personal advisement for social issues. Among those included in this category are educational counselors, marriage and family therapists, public health social workers, probation officers, and religious clergy.

Findings

Portland led the Monster Employment Index as the fastest growing market for community and social service jobs. Although the 76.6 percent year-over-year growth is significant, it represents a relatively small portion of regional jobs. The category is most significant in Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York; New York charted the most substantial growth.
